SUPPORT GROUPS

The Home Midwifery Association (Qld) Inc. runs Homebirth Support Groups in Brisbane, the Gold Coast, the Sunshine Coast, and Ipswich. Other groups supportive of home birth also meet around Queensland, including in Gympie/Cooran, and in Maleny.

To receive the latest news about support group meetings, including e-mailed reminders about meetings, and notices about guest speakers, please consider joining our yahoo group, Homebirth Queensland.

The support groups meet in the morning and everyone joins in a shared lunch or afternoon tea. Everyone is welcome to attend; parents, grandparents, children, midwives, and anyone interested in homebirth. Its a time to come together to socialise, support, talk, listen and learn. At these sessions you can meet mothers who have given birth at home, hear birth stories, and participate in discussions on birthing and parenting.

$5 per family donation requested on attendance, and please bring a plate of food to share. HMA membership is encouraged after attendance at two support group meetings.
